The United States women’s national soccer team and Orlando Pride star welcomed her first daughter with husband Servando Carrasco of the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday. Charlie Elena Carrasco was born Thursday, May 7 at 11:30 a.m.

“She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby.”

Morgan, 30, was due in April and said on “Good Morning America” earlier in the week she hoped to give birth within the week. Teammate Megan Rapinoe beamed when ABC’s Robin Roberts mentioned the newest member of the USWNT squad after they were interviewed about the judge’s ruling in the equal pay case.

The two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist announced she was pregnant in October and said she still intended to play for the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It would have been less than three months after giving birth. The Olympics were postponed to July 2021 due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Morgan suited up and did light training with the national team in February. She shared her training regiment this winter with updates on Instagram.
Morgan and the USWNT players are still in a legal battle with the U.S. Soccer Federation for equal pay. That fight took a hit last week when a judge sided with U.S. Soccer in a summary judgement. The players filed a motion to appeal the decision to the Ninth Circuit late Friday night.
